Analysing and Presenting Data from Student-led Education Programmes

Talk and discussion on our experience as a national organisation running neer-peer education, analysing results from this, and publishing and presenting. We will aim to discuss the best format in which to collect feedback, questions that are important for analysing learning and the value of teaching sessions, and statistical and qualitative analysis techniques applied. We will also discuss our experience of hosting the only national virtual free clinical skills practice series and what we have learnt from this with regards to students’ perceptions on the value of remote clinical skills teaching.

Session presenters:
Catherine Dominic is a final year medical student at Barts in London. She has a keen interest in medical education, having previously delivered 3 national teaching series with BAPIO YDF and Infection4Finals. She has also delivered near-peer lectures and teaching to medical students. She Is Executive Director at Polygeia, Vice Chair of Education at BAPIO, Founder of the first national undergraduate conference in immunology and infectious disease, and has served on national committees for Students for Global Health, Universities Allied for Essential Medicines. She is part of the MedEd Collab, a group exploring various research areas in medical education. She is an aspiring clinical-academic, with research interest in public health, primary care, infectious diseases and epidemiology.

Dr Steven Gopaul is currently a junior doctor in the NHS. He is very interested in medical education, particularly the delivery of it. Over the past 5 years, he has given over 10 lectures to undergraduate medical and physician associate students. Alongside this, he is heavily involved in both national and international student societies, having held a Vice-president role at United International Medical Schools (UIMS) and is currently a Vice-chair of education at British Association of Physicians of Indian Origin Young Doctors Forum(BAPIO). His clinical interests mainly lie in the surgical field.
