SUMMARY:PEM conference
DESCRIPTION:Join us in Bristol for the PEM Conference 2026! \nThis RCEM–RCPCH combined programme delivers a focused\, high-impact day designed around the realities of contemporary Paediatric Emergency Medicine practice. \nThe programme follows the patient encounters from babies to adolescents\, combining keynote insights with themed panel discussions that address both everyday challenges and high-stakes scenarios. \nEarly sessions explore infant health\, including vaccine hesitancy\, allergy prevention\, and neonatal considerations. \nThe focus then shifts to the care of sick children in district general hospitals\, trauma\, and lessons from humanitarian and conflict settings. The afternoon centres on adolescent emergency care\, addressing complex medical\, mental health\, safeguarding\, and sexual assault presentations\, alongside candid discussions around trauma outcomes and resilience. \nThe day concludes with reflections on leadership\, team working\, and the evolving role of the emergency clinician. Practical\, relevant\, and thought-provoking\, this programme offers valuable learning for clinicians involved in paediatric emergency care. \nLearning objectives \n\nApply updated approaches to the assessment and management of paediatric emergency presentations across all age groups.\nImprove clinical decision-making and team working in high-pressure and trauma settings.\nCommunicate effectively around sensitive and complex issues involving children\, young people\, and families.\nReflect on leadership roles and professional resilience within paediatric emergency care.\n\n  \nWho should attend? \nThis event is aimed at Higher Speciality RCEM and RCPCH PEM Trainees.  All those interested in paediatric emergency medicine are also welcome but the content will be pitched at a HST level. \nSLO’s covered:  4\, 5\, 7\, 8 \nPEM SLO’s covered: 1\, 2\, 4\, 5\, 6 \n  \nAbstract submissions \nAbstracts are invited for the opportunity to present at the PEM conference 2026\, on Thursday 2 July 2026 in Bristol. \nWe welcome submissions across all aspects of paediatric emergency medicine\, including quality improvement projects\, interesting case reports\, and research initiatives undertaken within the last two years. \nThe top three abstracts will be selected for 8-minute oral presentations at the conference\, with additional successful submissions invited to present their work as poster presentations. \nThis is an excellent opportunity to present at a national meeting\, exchange ideas\, and share learning with colleagues from across the country.
