SUMMARY:FoCUS: Quantification and AI in assessing critically unwell patients
DESCRIPTION:Elevate your Emergency Medicine Focused Cardiac Ultrasound (FoCUS) by mastering the tools\, namely quantification and Artificial Intelligence (AI) that matter most in assessing critically unwell patients.   \nThis intensive\, hands-on course is built to move you beyond subjective and qualitative cardiac assessments. You will learn to generate hard\, reproducible data at the bedside\, using powerful quantitative metrics to make objective haemodynamic decisions.   \nWe will focus on how cutting-edge AI can automate measurements and accelerate your workflow\, giving you the confidence to manage critically unwell patients with greater speed and precision. \nLearning objectives: \n\nTo perform and interpret key quantitative measurements (e.g. VTI\, EF\, TAPSE\, TRVMax) to rapidly and objectively assess cardiac function in critically unwell patients \n\n\nTo integrate AI powered tools to automate calculations\, accelerate workflow\, and enhance the accuracy of FoCUS \n\n\nTo apply quantitative data and AI-driven insights to rapidly differentiate shock states and guide immediate haemodynamic management \n\n\nTo develop the confidence to apply a systematic FoCUS protocol that incorporates advanced quantification in time-critical emergency scenarios

SUMMARY:Bridging EM & ICM: Pre-Conference Skills Workshop
DESCRIPTION:This dynamic\, hands-on pre-conference workshop invites both trainees and consultants to strengthen practical skills and collaborative approaches to front-door critical care. Delegates will rotate through three interactive breakout sessions:  \n\nCardiac & Shock Echo – focused training in point-of-care echocardiography for rapid assessment and decision-making \n\n\nDifficult Airway Workshop – simulation-based practice in advanced airway management techniques \nComplex Case Discussions – multidisciplinary exploration of challenging real-world scenarios\, emphasising teamwork and decision-making\n\nBy the end of the workshop\, participants will have enhanced their technical skills\, shared cross-specialty expertise\, and built greater confidence in managing the critically unwell patient. \nLearning objectives: \n\nTo provide practical\, hands-on training in advanced skills relevant to both EM and ICM practice \n\n\nTo develop confidence in the assessment and management of the acutely unwell patient through multidisciplinary learning \n\n\nTo explore collaborative approaches to challenging clinical scenarios across specialties \nTo create networking and mentorship opportunities for trainees and consultants in EM and ICM \n\nWho should attend?  \n\nEM trainees (of all stages)  \n\n\nDual EM-ICM HSTs \n\n\nResident doctors including LEDs with an interest in acute care/EM/ICM \nConsultants wishing to refresh key skills in critical care

SUMMARY:PoCUS MSK trauma
DESCRIPTION:PoCUS MSK trauma consists of hands-on workshops for EM clinicians with a structured approach to musculoskeletal trauma using point-of-care ultrasound (PoCUS). Through a combination of lectures\, demonstrations\, and extensive hands-on practice\, participants will gain experience and confidence in applying PoCUS MSK trauma in the ED. \nThe programme covers physics and probe handling\, ultrasound features of bone\, muscle\, tendon\, and nerve structures\, and practical applications across upper and lower limb trauma. \nAdvanced modules include shoulder dislocation\, Colles’ fracture\, scaphoid protocol\, and ATFL injury. A dedicated block on ultrasound-guided nerve blocks\, including fascia iliaca\, will highlight their role in trauma procedures such as reductions and wound suturing. \nLearning objectives \n\nDemonstrate correct probe handling\, knobology\, and image optimisation in musculoskeletal ultrasound\nApply PoCUS to evaluate common upper and lower limb injuries (shoulder\, wrist\, hand\, knee\, ankle\, foot)\nAssess and manage advanced MSK conditions including shoulder dislocation\, Colles’ fracture\, scaphoid injury\, and ATFL injury\nIdentify peripheral nerves (median\, ulnar\, femoral) and perform ultrasound-guided nerve blocks safely\nIntegrate ultrasound findings into ED trauma care\, including fracture/dislocation management\, analgesia\, and procedural support
