DESCRIPTION:PoCUS MSK trauma consists of hands-on workshops for EM clinicians with a structured approach to musculoskeletal trauma using point-of-care ultrasound (PoCUS). Through a combination of lectures\, demonstrations\, and extensive hands-on practice\, participants will gain experience and confidence in applying PoCUS MSK trauma in the ED. \nThe programme covers physics and probe handling\, ultrasound features of bone\, muscle\, tendon\, and nerve structures\, and practical applications across upper and lower limb trauma. \nAdvanced modules include shoulder dislocation\, Colles’ fracture\, scaphoid protocol\, and ATFL injury. SUMMARY:AaE: Teaching and training in the workplace
DESCRIPTION:This workshop builds on the knowledge and skills of the ‘Anaesthetists as Educators – An Introduction course’. It is intended for senior trainees\, SAS doctors and consultants\, who already have experience of teaching and supervising trainees in the clinical environment. \nThe workshop looks at the education and assessment of trainee anaesthetists and raises awareness of some of the key concepts associated with education. This highly interactive workshop relies on you bringing your real-life experiences of teaching in the workplace in order to gain the most benefit. Please note: pre-course reading / task will be required to be completed prior to attending this course. \nIf you are intending to apply for membership of the Academy of Medical Educators (AoME) you must have completed the one-day Introduction course\, the two-day Teaching and Training Course and submitted homework for marking for both courses. \n

SUMMARY:Paediatric Epilepsy Training 1 (PET1) - Virtual
DESCRIPTION:This is a 1-day course\, which will be delivered by Consultant Paediatric Neurologists\, Consultant Paediatricians with expertise in epilepsy\, and a specialist epilepsy nurse.  The day will consist of lectures and interactive workshops. \nBy the end of PET1\, attendees will be able to: \n\nDefine: seizure\, epilepsy\, epilepsy syndrome and be able to provide a simple formulation of epilepsies\nDescribe the different seizure types eg absence\, myoclonic\, tonic clonic\, tonic\, atonic\, focal motor and focal sensory\nGive differential diagnosis for seizures\, and how to distinguish epilepsy from syncopes (simple faints\, reflex anoxic seizure\, breath holding) and inattention (day-dreaming\, pre-occupation)\nManage the first seizure event (not status epilepticus management)\nAppreciate the contribution made by EEG and neuro-imaging\nDescribe the principles of treatment\, the indication for anti-seizure medications and the well-known side effects of these drugs\nOffer practical advice for parents and children with epilepsy\n\nPET1 has been developed to improve practice within childhood epilepsies.
